Delhi-Patna Bullet Train to Cut Travel Time Across States
The upcoming Delhi-Patna Bullet Train is a part of the larger Delhi–Howrah rail corridor. It has a top speed of 350 kilometres/hour. With that speed, you can travel from Patna to Delhi in just 4 hours. The Delhi-Howrah route will just take 6.5 hours with the bullet train which is usually 17-18 hours longs.
This is a game-changer for the regular commuters. The distance between states has been reduced.
Delhi-Patna Bullet Train Route & Key Stops
Here’s how the complete route plan for the Delhi-Patna Bullet Train:
- It will start from New Delhi
- Next it will only halt at these stops: Agra Cantt → Kanpur Central → Ayodhya → Lucknow → Varanasi → Patna
- Finally from Patna → Asansol → Howrah
So there are total 9 major stations that span from the North to East India.
Survey Work Completed in Bihar
According to unofficial reports, the route survey for the Delhi-Patna Bullet Train Route has been fully completed by Bihar government authorities. The final survey report has been submitted to the Railway Ministry. The construction work will be take place in two phases:
- Phase 1: Delhi to Varanasi
- Phase 2: Varanasi to Howrah, passing through Patna
This phase-wise process helps with the planning and better implementation. The stop at Patna will a crucial point between Varanasi to Howrah.
60-Kilometer Elevated Track in Patna
For the Delhi-Patna Bullet Train Route to be functional, the government has to built a 60-kilometer elevated corridor around Patna. This will minimise land acquisition issues which is a major problem when working with urban areas. It will also enable smooth, uninterrupted travel through densely populated areas.
₹5 Lakh Crore Investment For The Project
The estimated cost of the entire Delhi–Howrah railway project is around ₹5 lakh crore. This massive investment will prove to give greater returns. When time is saved and the economic connectivity develops it will turn out to be a massive domino effect of growth for the region. Nobody could have even imagined that thousands of kilometres can be spanned in just a matter of few hours. And that is what’s actually happening with the high-speed corridor. A similar project is nearing completion in Mumbai-Ahemdabad route.
