Shravani Mela 2025: Bihar Govt to Launch Free Services and German Tent City for Devotees

The holy month of Sawan has begun. Lakhs of devotees have started their Kanwar Yatra for Shravani Mela 2025. They generally start from Bihar’s Sultanganj and reach Jharkhand’s Baba Baidyanath Dham by foot. The Kanwariyas are very devoted towards Shiv Ji and thus carry heavy loads of water to fulfill their wishes.
The Bihar government is committed towards making the journey easy for all the devotees. They have announced German-style tent cities for making the 105-km yatra smoother for the Kanwariyas. The tent cities will have on-the-spot free bookings so there will be no hassle in getting seats. This year’s preparation are more elaborate than any year.

German Hangar Tent City in Banka
The main highlight of the preparations and arrangements for Shravani Mela 2025 is the establishment of German-style tent cities along the key routes of Kanwar Yatra. One such 600-bed tent city will be developed in Abarakha, Banka.
This will be the first time in the history of Bihar when such a large scale temporary city will be created for devotees. The setup will also contain all the necessary arrangements like clean drinking water, toilets, electricity, mirrors, sanitation staff, bamboo Kanwar stands, and seating spaces.
Apart from the big tent city in Banka, additional 200-bed tent cities will be built in Sultanganj (Bhagalpur), Khaira and Dhobai (Munger). These sites are the key locations from where the Kanwar Yatra proceeds. All the bookings will be free and on-the-spot. Devotees can easily rest there or stay overnight if they want. This way the journey will be even more smoother for the Kanwariyas.
Cultural Programs Along the Route
The Bihar Tourism Department has planned cultural programs to make the Shravani Mela 2025 even more spiritual and exciting. Such cultural events will be held in Sultanganj, Abarakha, and Khaira through the Shravani Mela 2025 (11 July – 9 August). These programs will include devotional songs, live folk music, traditional dance etc.
Apart from that, laser shows, LED displays, and photo booths will be organised which will be completed themed around Shiv Ji. This is enrich the spiritual vibe and enhance the experience.
On-the-Spot Free Booking & Real-Time Support
The Bihar government has announced real-time booking and zero-cost accommodation for all of the devotees. This is the best feature because there will be no need to pre-book the site. Kanwariyas can just reach the tent city and they will be guided to the free available space.
