All India Athletics Meet 2025 : Bihar to Host Prestigious National Event for the First Time

Patna to Host its First All India Athletics Meet
The All India Athletics Meet 2025 will be organised by the Athletics Association of Bihar with Athletics Federation of India (AFI). It is a first-of-its-kind event for Bihar where top players from all over India will come.
The event will feature a open category competition for men and women which will also help in selecting players for the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
According to the official information from the Bihar State Sports Authority, more than 250 elite athletes have registered for the All India Athletics Meet 2025. This is because the meet will be a gateway for national level selections.
Athletic Disciplines in All India Athletics Meet 2025
The meet will feature a wise range of athletic disciplines. It is not just limited to sprints or relay race. The following events will be held in the meet :
- Track Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, 3000m steeplechase, relays, marathon, and half-marathon will be hosted.
- Field Events: Variety of field events like Long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, and javelin throw will be conducted.
- Combined Events like Decathlon and heptathlon will also be hosted.
All the above-mentioned events can be easily hosted in the Patliputra Sports Complex and hence, it is selected for the same.
As per the official AFI’s standards, only the atheletes born on or before July 19, 2007 (i.e., aged 18 and above) were eligible to register.
Logistics Handled by Bihar Athletics Body
The Patliputra Sports Complex is chosen as the ground and for providing basic infrastructure. The event will be handled by Athletics Association of Bihar, under AFI’s supervision. All event-related responsibilities will be done by them in co-ordination.
Ravindran Shankaran, who is the Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority, called the event “logistically streamlined, tightly coordinated”. He also highlighted the fact that Bihar is now ready to host such large-scale championships.
Entry Process Already Closed
The registrations for the All India Athletics Meet 2025 were started on 21 June and they got closed on 5 July. Athletes had to register through the official AFI portal by uploading their performance stats along with verifying their age and identity.
AFI also issued guidelines for every category like 100 m sprints, javelin throws etc. It was a golden opportunity for atheletes.
