Approval For Bihar Youth Commission
After the cabinet meeting, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also announced the same in his social media post at X (previously known as Twitter). He said that the Bihar Youth Commission is made to discuss actual issues that the youth of Bihar is facing like employment, training and other opportunities for their empowerment and development.
The Bihar Youth Commission will aim to improve job opportunities for local youth. Along with that, they will ensure that the young generation has easy access to skill development opportunities so that they become self-sufficient and independent.
What the Will the Bihar Youth Commission Actually Do?
The youth commission will work as a advisory body for the government. It will be given the following responsibilities:
- Advise the government on policies that will impact the Bihari youth.
- Co-ordinate with various departments of the Bihar government to improve educational and employment opportunities
- Support drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs
- Give recommendations to uplift the status of young people in Bihar
The Bihar Youth Commission will serve as a bridge between the government and young citizens. It will take their issues, concerns and aspirations to the government so that the required policies can be made to improve the overall condition.
Structure of the Bihar Youth Commission
The Youth Commission will consist of:
- 1 Chairperson
- 2 Vice-Chairpersons
- 7 Members
A notable detail is that the maximum age for being eligible to become a member is 45 years. This is done to keep the commission young and active so that they can tackle the actual problems.
The youth commission will also supervise the employment practices of private sector firms. It will also take care of the people who are employed outside Bihar. The interest of the Bihari youth will be their utmost priority.
Other Decisions Made By the Cabinet
Along with approval to form the Youth Commission, other decisions related to infrastructure and policy were also cleared. The major approvals are given below:

Conclusion
The formation of the Bihar Youth Commission is a strategic move for empowering the young population. This also has a political angle as the Bihar assembly elections 2025 are approaching. This could be a benefit for the ruling party. If they are actually able to gradually solve the grave problems faced by Bihari youth, the NDA will grab a major voter base.
Recently, the central government has also announced a massive ₹76,000 crore investment for improving rural connectivity in Bihar. Under the fourth phase of PMGSY, around 45,000 kilometres of rural roads will be constructed. You can read all the details here.
