Bihar politics is heating up. Famous youtuber and politician Manish Kashyap has announced that he will be breaking ties with the BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) and joining Prashant Kishore’s newly formed Jan Suraaj party on 23th June later in this month. Manish Kashyap has announced plans to contest in the Bihar state assembly elections 2025. He may contest from the Chanpatia seat in West Champaran district.

Manish Kashyap publicly resigned from the BJP on 7th June during a live video. He gave personal and political reasons for leaving the party. He said that now he wants to work freely, without any political pressure focusing on public interest.

Who is Manish Kashyap?

Why Manish Kashyap quit the BJP?

Manish Kashyap joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, because he wanted to fulfill her mother’s wish. However, his association with the Bhartiya Janata party was short-lived as he resigned on 7th June.

While resigning, he said that he wasn’t able to speak on the issues faced by people. After talking to the locals of his hometown Chanpatia (in West Champaran) he realised that he needs to fight more for the people.

He also talked about the recent incident at PMCH (Patna Medical College and Hospital), where he was beaten very brutally by the doctors. But he claimed that no senior party leader or member checked on him. Their silence felt like utter disrespect to him and he chose to leave the party.

Why he is Joining Jan Suraaj?

Manish Kashyap says he was impressed by Jan Suraaj’s ground-level approach to politics which is quite similar to his style of reporting. Jan Suraaj’s image is quite clean right now as it is a newly formed party, founded by election strategist Prashant Kishor.

He feels by joining the party he will be able to address the real issues like healthcare, employment, and education. He said Jan Suraaj being a local party is not controlled by any high command, thus it listens to people.

Will Contest Bihar Elections from Chanpatia Seat

Manish Kashyap is likely to contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly election from the Chanpatia constituency that comes in his hometown. He has already begun holding jan sabhas, village meetings and talking to the locals to get a idea of their problems.

Political analysts believe that he is likely to win the elections as well because of his appeal to the local youth. His strong connection to the people of Champaran and his previous work on highlighting local problems will make him a suitable candidate.
