Massive Allocation for Highways in Bihar

The Central Government has approved a massive investment of ₹33,464 crore for new highways in Bihar for this financial year 2025–26. This amount has been sanctioned under the National Highway (NH) development plan. Under this, 875 kilometers of road infrastructure will be constructed across the state. Out of this, 380 km of National Highways will be upgraded from two lanes to four lanes. This is amed at reducing the travel time and improving the safety of passengers.

  • Sitamarhi to Chirauth Highway: A two lane highway near the Indo-Nepal border will be constructed at a cost of ₹500 crore. As the name suggests it will connect Sitamarhi and Chirauth.
  • Gandak River Bridges: Two major bridges will be constructed over the Gandak River. They are important for improving north-south connectivity in the region.
  • Hathua to Phulwaria ROB: A Road Over Bridg will be constructed between Hathua and Phulwaria at the cost of ₹95 crore. It will resolve the problem of delays at railway crossing.
