One lane of Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge to Open
The Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge is primarily meant to be developed as a six-lane bridge. But, the Bihar government is opening it’s one lane for the general public from 23 June. It ends at Chaksikander in Vaishali district, passing through Raghopur Diara.
The construction work of the Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge began on January 16, 2017. The project was undertaken by L&T and Daewoo as a joint venture. The bridge is 22.76 km long in which the main cable-stayed section is 9.76 km making it the longest cable-stayed bridge in India. This bridge in Bihar has surpassed all the previous records of such bridges.

The Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge starts from Patna’s Sabalpur on the Bakhtiyarpur corridor to Ghazipur Chowk on NH-103. This will elevate traffic from the Gandhi Setu and work as an alternative route. Now, people will be able to travel between South Bihar and northern districts of Bihar like Vaishali, Samastipur, and Muzaffarpur conveniently.
The bridge is 32- metre wide which is enough to let heavy vehicle pass, easing the transport of goods across Bihar. It will serve as a logistical asset and reduce congestion from from the region.
Project Cost and Scale
The Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge is built at a whopping cost of ₹4,988.40 crore. This makes it one of the costliest public infrastructure project in Bihar’s history. Out of these funds, approximately ₹696.60 crore were allocated for land acquisition and the rest ₹4,291.80 crore was allotted for the construction work.
Raghopur’s Transformation Begins
Once the bridge becomes fully operational, it will be improving the economic, educational and healthcare access for Raghopur Diara residents. Earlier, they were dependent on boats and ferries to reach Patna.
The Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur Bridge will trigger away of development in the Raghopur region.
